Chelsea have made an offer for New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, 90min understands.
Edouard Mendy was sold to Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli earlier this summer, with Robert Sanchez signed from Brighton & Hove Albion as his replacement, but Chelsea now find themselves needing another new stopper after Kepa Arrizabalaga joined Real Madrid on loan.
Sources have confirmed to 90min that Chelsea have settled on Petrovic and the Blues have lodged an offer for the 23-year-old Serbia international.
Petrovic is widely hailed as the best goalkeeper in Major League Soccer right now and has been linked with a handful of European sides this summer, with Manchester United reported to be interested before their move for Andre Onana.
Now, however, it is Chelsea who have made a move to bring Petrovic to the Premier League.

A deal has not yet been agreed between the clubs but a fee of around $20m (£15.7m) is expected to be enough to convince New England to sell.
New England have rebuffed interest thus far in an attempt to keep Petrovic until the end of the current Major League Soccer season and face the added complication of not being able to sign a replacement as the MLS summer transfer window has already closed.
However, Chelsea believe a deal can still be struck for Petrovic to move to Stamford Bridge this month and compete with Sanchez, who has started the Premier League season as Mauricio Pochettino’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Chelsea have previous when it comes to MLS goalkeepers, having lured Gabriel Slonina over from Chicago Fire last summer in a $15m (£12m) deal. 19-year-old Slonina has joined Belgian side Eupen on loan for the current campaign.
